A Mind of Your Own features a different lead singer on most every track. If you don’t already know the music of The War & Treaty, last week’s single allows us to introduce you to them! It’s a song about JOY — something we’re all needing during the unprecedented events of this past week, and this last year!

But first, please mark your calendars for our upcoming livestream show:

On Your Radar with WFUV’s John Platt

Tuesday, January 12 • 7-9pm EST

The Bright Siders headline this week’s show! Tune in around 8:15pm EST to catch Kristin and Critter playing songs at home, and Dr. Kari offering wisdom to help adults talk about emotions with the kids they love. Live from On Your Radar’s Facebook and YouTube.

Now here’s some music for you...

“With all the uncertainty floating around the future, the musical world that The Bright Siders are creating is an invaluable expression of strength, unity and hope. With debut singles as good as this, their story is surely just beginning.” – American Songwriter

 LISTEN NOW

"The Song About Songs" is the overture for an album about the wide range of emotions kids face in growing up. With Michael and Tanya Trotter (The War & Treaty) on this first track, they show us how the act of singing itself can create its own emotion — pure joy. We adore this duo’s music, and our psychiatrist-songwriter collaboration has been inspired by their choice to be open about the serious mental health challenges of PTSD (Michael is a veteran), while also singing through that pain and inspiring others to do the same. We and our co-producer Chris Eldridge were truly honored to work with them and especially excited to hear their son Legend make his studio debut (along with a gaggle of talented Nashville kids), on those backing vocals.

The War & Treaty just released their new album Hearts Town, so if you love their singing like we do, please check that out!

The Bright Siders’ album drops January 22 on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. We’ve got a livestream listening party in the works, so stay tuned. In the meantime...

Thank you for sharing this music with a kid or an adult who loves one!

Yours truly,

Kristin & Kari
